WINNER OF THE BALLSTON LAUNCHPAD...TWO COMPANIES!

BRAND BASED DECISION MAKING

A little background…
Over the last 15 weeks, Tiffany Brown, from BuilDATAnalytics, Kylee from Tomorrow’s Lemonade Stand, and Khurrum Shakir from Carsquare have been among the 14 companies competing to win $15,000 and the chance to present to Ted Leonsis one on one.

How the night unfolded…
Wednesday, there was the Launch Pad Finale in Ballston at the movie theater there. It was awesome seeing presentations up on the movie screen, while each company pitched to win cash and office space.

The top 4 companies presented and then the Ballston Bid Launch Pad team announced the winner of the Community Award. This is an award voted on by the competitors / participants about who will serve the community the best. Tomorrow’s Lemonade Stand is a company created by a 7 year old, which is amazing.

TWO WINNERS!!!
Ted Leonsis and the others judges came to a stalemate…but instead of cutting the grand prize in half, they awarded each of the top two companies $15,000, plus office space, etc.

Keep your decisions on brand…
In this case, Ted Leonsis and the other judges, Aneesh Chopra, Congressman Gerry Connolly, and Mark Gruhin, decided to award the prize to both teams.
This decision is important, as Ted Leonisis described it, when we wanted to award both, people said no – you can’t. There is only supposed to be one winner. But he said, why not? And he made the decision to give more money, among too many other decisions to name, that reflected his commitment to the community and to entrepreneurs. This decision was so on brand and true to his values.

Great event and awesome participants all the way around.

How to do Brand Based Decision Making
1. Know Yourself
Understand your values and what is important to you as an individual or company. Have you written them down and shared it? Does your network understand what your vision and passions are?

2. Know Your SuperPower
What have you declared or committed to as it relates to you or your company? Have you promised to support certain social efforts, to lead with compassion, or something else?
This skill is what you are known for to the market, what they expect when they work with you.

2. Know Your SuperPower
What have you declared or committed to as it relates to you or your company? Have you promised to support certain social efforts, to lead with compassion, or something else?
This skill is what you are known for to the market, what they expect when they work with you.

3. Decision Making
Every interaction you have builds your brand for better or worse. When you make decisions, like Ted Leonsis did, he made the decision in light of his brand and what his commitment is to the entrepreneur community.

So next time you make a decision, do it from the perspective of a Brand Based Decision Making process, how will your action be on or off brand?

Sincerely,
Jen Dalton
